I Hate Running...
So in an effort to get into shape (I was going to say back into shape, but I never really was)I changed up my workout regimen and started running. I must of had some grandious vision of me galloping like a thoroughbred as I melted the fat away, but I was completely wrong. Running is a horrible discipline that I believe should only be reserved for the most violent and despicable criminals. My back hurts, my knees hurt, I even think my eyelids are sore. 2 miles a day, only 2 miles. Less than 1/10th of what marathon runners accomplish. It's a sad shame, but I will say this, it does excelerate the weight loss. I have lost more weight in the past 3 weeks of this new running regimen than I lost in the previous 2 months of doing the elliptical. So I guess the torture of running will continue to be in my routine for the time being, but maybe one day I will be delivered from it's evil.

A Long Time Gone
Ok, I know I haven't posted in almost 2 months, suffice to say that the election and the results wore me out and I needed to take a break. So I sat back and enjoyed the holidays and even watched the inauguration without commenting. But then a friend sent me a video that stirred up my blogging itch and I had to post it here. Watch how then state senator Obama gets eviscerated by Alan keys on the issue of proclaiming the Christian faith, it's quite interesting.

A Look Back a Year Ago...
I wrote an article a year ago about a tradition of playing football on Thanksgiving and I decided to republish it for this year, check it out.

Every Thanksgiving for the past 16 years I have participated in a tradition that I hope one day my son will carry on, Turkeybowl. Early on Turkey day morning, we all wake up to the succulent smells of roasted bird, sage stuffing, green bean casserole, but the most pressing thing on our minds is not how much food we can stuff into our bellies, but rather how many tackles we make and if we might score a touchdown. Each year it's different. Sometimes it's 60 degrees with a slight breeze. This year it's forecasted to be 18 a with today's snow still coating the field. But in spite of the frigid conditions, we will have 30 -40 guys show up eager to be picked to play the greatest game on this the greatest of days. I know that I sound dramatic, but that's intended. We all look forward to this one day, where family comes into town just to play the game and people don't go out of town just so they won't miss this game. It's that important. Sure people get hurt. Arms have been broken, fractured eye sockets requiring plastic surgery, concussions that have year long side effects. But despite all this, we all march onto that frozen tundra of glory and play a most hallowed game. So while the rest of you are munching on early tastes of turkey and gravy, remember that their will be a group of dedicated souls, freezing their butts off, all in the name of tradition and turkey

OK, let's face the music
Well, it's been over a week since the election and I have finally decided to put up a post. The thing is, I really don't have a ton to say. My guy lost and the one person on the other side I thought was the most inept, inexperienced and morally defunct won. But despite my obvious disdain for Obama's politics, he is still our president-elect and I will respect the office if not the man. One thing I wont do is hope for the failure of the incoming commander-in-chief. I vehemently disagree with people that hope and pray for the personal destruction and failing of our president, and it still is a source of bitterness for me the way the opposition party acted toward President Bush. So I will pray for Obama to have wisdom and courage, discernment and character, and that he will work for ALL the people, not just for the loony left that worked so feverishly (and some say illegally)to elect him. I'm sure I'll have more to post in the near future about how the election actually went and other whimsical thoughts, but for now this is it.
